School App Launch

Your child should have brought home a letter this week about the launch dates of our brand-new free app from Parentapps that will greatly improve the way we communicate with families. This will be the only way we communicate with parents by message from now on – the app will replace the previous Groupcall text message system, so it is really important that you download it as soon as possible.

The app will provide you with instant access to term dates, event information, newsletters, dinner menus, social media and much more. It also will link directly to latest news and important information on our website.

Additionally, you will also be able to view and submit consent forms, receive secure documents and report absences directly from within the app. It also enables you to invite additional family members to download the app, ensuring that the right people have access to important information regarding your child.

We will be using the app to send out direct and group messages to our parents when necessary. The messages are sent out via push notifications and will be sent directly to your smart device for you to read at any time. The system also has the ability of sending direct messages that we may also occasionally use.

The app is fully secure and GDPR compliant and in order to access it you will be invited via text message. If you do not wish to receive an invitation providing access to the app, please contact us by Friday 5th April in order to opt out.

The invitation from Parentapps with further instructions on downloading and accessing the app includes their privacy notice which provides information on how you can control your personal data.

We are planning on sending out invitations by text to our Year 3 and 4 parents on Monday 8th April and to our Year 5 and 6 parents on Thursday 11th April. Invitations will be sent to the primary contact that we have on record for your child. If you do not receive your invitation within 24 hours of your launch date, please contact me via email (head@gaytonj.derby.sch.uk) and we can adjust contact details if necessary and resend it.

Click here to view the sheet from Parentapps that shows you how to download and log on to the app for the first time.

These instructions will allow the primary contact to download and log into the app. In order to allow other users to access the app, you will need to submit the form which can be found in the “Add More Users” section of the main menu. This will be submitted to school for verification and an invitation will be sent out to them within 48 hours.

If you have any questions, please get in touch.
