Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Our Christmas celebrations ended with a big assembly to say ‘goodbye’ to Mrs Wilson who retired on Friday 18th December. The children performed a ‘Gayton’ rendition of her favourite Christmas song, The 12 Days of Christmas, summarising all of her many achievements whilst at the school. Of course, there were plenty of presents: the children put their fingerprints to paper, making a book of trees for her to remember them by. Mrs Wilson spent 20 years at Gayton: six as Deputy Headteacher and 14 as Headteacher. She leaves behind many happy memories and a school on its way to becoming outstanding!

As we welcome in 2016, we will be welcoming our new Headteacher, Mrs Chapman, who joins us from Homefields Primary School in Chellaston. She inherits a fantastic school at the top of the City League tables, a dedicated and hardworking team of staff and some fantastically talented and enthusiastic children. Feel free to pop in and introduce yourselves to her in the new term while she gets to know her new Gayton family!
