There are many opportunities for our children to develop a sense of belonging within the local community. We have strong links with our transition schools, getting to know the children before they arrive from their Key Stage 1 school and also sharing information with the secondary schools. We are federated with our neighbouring infant school, Ridgeway, and have forged close working links with the school, including shared policies and links between curriculums.
We recognise the diverse nature of our community and hold annual faith days, where we absorb ourselves in the culture and traditions of the six main faiths – Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism, Islam, Judaism and Sikhism.
All children receive a Gayton passport on entry to the school and we aim to ensure they have the opportunity to fulfill all fifty experiences inside before they leave Gayton.
“The school provides pupils with a clear moral code, where everyone is welcomed and valued. There are lots of opportunities to celebrate everyone’s heritage.” OFSTED 2013

“The Gayton Passport offers pupils a wide range of interesting and exciting learning opportunities during their time at the school.” OFSTED 2017

“Pupils celebrate the diverse nature of the school. They accept that everyone is different. They show high levels of respect for the ideas and opinions of others. Pupils enjoy the vast array of trips and clubs on offer. They love the chance it gives them to develop their interests further. Pupils who learn to play the ukulele perform at Derby Arena. The tabletop battle game club members visit ‘Warhammer World’ on a school trip.” OFSTED 2023
