DESCRIPTION:Your child brought home a letter in the summer term about the team who will be visiting school on Friday 29th September to measure the height and weight of our Year 6 pupils. All results will also be noted in your child’s health record\, and a member of the school nursing team or your GP may contact you if they have a concern about your child’s weight. All information and results will be treated confidentially – no child’s height or weight measurements information will be   given to school staff or other children. If there are any concerns regarding your child’s height and weight\, as well as a possible contact from the School Nursing team\, you will be sent your child’s results through the post\, including information about healthy lifestyle services. If your child is assessed as being a healthy weight\,  you will not receive feedback from us but can    contact your school nurse who will be happy to talk to you should you wish. \nFor further information\, please visit the following website: https://www.nhs.uk/change4life/your-childs-weight/home  which gives tips on healthy eating and being active. \nOpting your child out of the programme: \nIf you are happy for your child to be weighed and measured\, you do not need to do anything.   \nYou should have written to the team in the summer term when you received the letter if you did not want your child to take part. DESCRIPTION:Wednesday 7th December is Christmas Dinner Day. Lunches will only be provided for those children who have ordered them in advance and there will be no other options offered on the day.  The cost of the lunch will be £2.20 and will need to be paid in advance using ScoPay.  We will provide crackers to pull. \nOn the menu this year is: roast turkey\, stuffing\, chipolata sausages\, roast and creamed  potatoes\, vegetables and gravy. The vegetarian option is Quorn™ roast and the halal option is roast chicken. The stuffing and gravy are both suitable for vegetarians.  For dessert there will be the option of an ice cream tub or a Christmas shortbread biscuit. \nFor those children with special dietary requirements\, please contact Mrs Wagstaff in the office and she will arrange a suitable option for your child. \nYou can download a letter and slip to return to school from the Letters section of the school app if yours did not make it home! Please return the slip to school no later than Friday 25th November 2022. Unfortunately as these need to be pre-ordered with our caterers\, we are unable to accept any  requests after this date and your child will need to bring a packed lunch as an alternative. \n  \n

As usual\, the Office Staff will be selling Christmas pin badges and slap bands from Monday 5th December in the school hall when doors open at 8:45am each morning\, this year raising money for Safe and Sound\, their chosen charity. SUMMARY:Year 4 Trip to Tutbury Castle
DESCRIPTION:We have booked a trip for Year 4 to visit Tutbury Castle on Wednesday 30th November. As you are aware\, we have been learning about the Anglo-Saxons and Vikings this term in Year 4 and this trip will be a fantastic way bring to the topic to life. We will also be using the experience of the day as a stimulus for our creative writing. \nOn the day\, we will be travelling by coach and will leave school at 9:15am and will aim to return to school by 3:30pm. Children will need a packed lunch and a water bottle. Please send your child to school on the day with sensible\, warm clothing with their Gayton jumper or cardigan. We will be spending some of the day outdoors so a waterproof coat and warm clothing will be required. They do not need to bring any money with them but can bring a small amount in a named purse or wallet if they would like to buy something from the gift shop. \nWe would appreciate a contribution of £16 per child which would include the cost of the coaches\, entry to the castle and cover the cost of the workshops that the children will be taking part in. Payment can be online using your SCOPay account.
