Book Week

Wednesday 27th February 2013

Book week is taking place in school next week 4th – 8th March 2013. The children will spend the week exploring a specific story and carrying out exciting activities to give them a deeper understanding of the book as well as a fun filled and enriched experience throughout the week.

The texts the children will be studying are:

  • Year 3 – The Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum
  • Year 4 –The Iron Man by Ted Hughes
  • Year 5 – Where the Forest Meets the Sea by Jeannie Baker
  • Year 6 – The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe by C.S Lewis

Due to the enormous success of our Roald Dahl Day back in September, we will now be celebrating a David Walliams Day!

David Walliams has been our featured author during the spring term and has greatly inspired the children and set their imaginations alight. To celebrate this, Friday 8th March will be dedicated to explore David Walliams’ catalogue of children’s books.

Children will be asked to dress up as a character or theme from the David Williams’ book they have been reading. Alternately, if they prefer they may dress up as a character from the book they have worked on during the week. There will be prizes for costumes and effort throughout the week.

We would also like to inform you that we are once again holding a book fair. This will be open to parents during parents evening on Tuesday 5th March and Wednesday 6th March. The children will also have a chance to visit the book fair in their classes on the following dates:

  • Year 5 – Monday 4th March
  • Year 6 – Tuesday 5th March
  • Year 4 – Wednesday 6th March
  • Year 3 – Thursday 7th March

Please could children bring any book fair money in a named envelope on their day for visiting? Most books are priced between £5 and £10.
